GENERAL INFORMATION

Alt Compressor Pump; lb compress air, the piston
moves up and down In the cyiindsr. On the downstroke,
air la drawn in through the air intake valves. The ekhausl
valve remains closed. On the upstroke of the piston, air Is
cQinpressBd, The intake valves close and compressed
air la forc«l out ttirough ttjs Kthausi valve, through the
oulJet tiiiB, through the check valve and into (he air tank.
Working air Is not available until the compreesor has
raised the air tank pressure above that required at the air
outlet
Check VbJve: When the air compressor is operating, the
check v^ve Is 'open", allowing compressed sir to enter
the air tank. When the air compressor reaches "cut- oui“
preseura, the chock valve "cloaes'', allowing alf pressure
to remain inside the air iMik.
Pretaure fteltaae vaive: The pressure rdeasa valve
located on the side of the pressure switch, is designed to
automatically release compi^sed air ffoin the com­
pressor head and the outlet tttoe whtn the air compres­
sor reaches ''cut-out" pressure or is shut off. It the air (s
not reteasid. the motor will try to start, but will ba unable
to. The pressure release valve allows the motor to restart
freely. Whan the motor stops running, air will be heard
escaping from the valve for a few asconds. No air should
be heard leaking when the mote is running,
Pressure Switch: The pressure switch automaticaily
starts the motor when th© air tank pressure drops below

the faotory set “cut-in'' pressure. It stops the motor when
the air lank pressure reaches the factory set “cut-out"
pressure.
Safety Vaivo: If the pressure switch doss not shut off the
air compressTF at Its cut-out pressure setting, the safety
valve will protect against high pressure by "pt^ping out*
at its pre-set pressure.
Regulator: The air pressure coming from the air lank Is
corttroKed by the regulator knob. Turn the knob
clockwise to irtcrease pressure and comter-ciockwlse
to decrease pressure. Tb avoid minor raadjusimenl after
making a change in pressure setting, always approach
the desired pressure from a lower pressure. When
reducing from a higher to a kavrer setting, first reduce to
some pressure teas than that desired, then bring up to
the desired presiwre. Depending on the air requirements
of each particuiar accessory, the outlet regulated air
pressure may haw» to be adjusted while operating the
accessory,
Outlet Prasaura Qauga: The outlet preesurs gauge
indicates the air pressure axreilabte at the outlet side of
the reg ulator, This pressure is controlled by the regulator
and is always lass or equal to the tank ¡»assure. See
"Operating Procedures.''
Tiink Prassura Gauge: The tank pressure gauge indi­
cates the reserve air pressure in the tank,
