ASSEMBLY
1. Mount the drive pulley with a woodruff key on the tractor
P. T. O. shaft. The pulley hub should face inward and
the outer side should be flush with the end of the shaft.
Secure the pulley to the shaft with the setscrew in the
pulley hub (Figure 1).
2. Remove the capscrew holding the brake band to the trans
mission and mount the smaller belt stopas shown, using
the 3/8-16 X 1-3/4 capscrew and three flat washers sup
plied with the revitalizer. The washers should be placed
two on the inside of the belt stop and one on the outside.
Install the longer_ stop in the slotted hole of the trans
mission side plate using a flat washer on the outside of
the belt stop (Figure 1).
3. Position the revitalizer unit at the rear of the tractor.
Lift the hitch assembly up and drop the crossbar onto
the lugs on the tractor hitch bracket. Install the latch
on the hitch bracket using a 1/2-13 x 1-1/4 capscrew,
loclcwasher and hex nut, so that the latch retains the
revitalizer crossbar
on the hitch bracket. Mount the
link assembly to the transmission side plates using the
long pin and two quick pins (Figure 2).
4. Install the lift rod on the tractor lift lever. Attach the
flat end of the rod to the lift arm on the revitalizer. Use
first hole on the lift rod (Figure 3).
5. Lower the unit to the ground. Pull the clutch lever at
the top center of the unit forward to disengaged position
and install the drive belt. Be sure the belt is properly
seated in the pulley.
OPERATION
NOTE: See section on adjustments and maintenance before
operating unit.
It is recommended that the mower and revitalizer be used
together. In this way long grass will not interfere with the
revitalizer. This also allows you to perform two operations
in one pass.
To begin the revitalizing operation, release the lift lever
and lower the mower and revitalizer to the operating posi
tion. When using the revitalizer, it is best to raise it when
turning corners, however, it is neither advised or necessary
to raise the mower. This may easily be accomplished by
disconnecting the mower lift chain from the lift lever by
removing the quick pin and clevis pin.
Depth Adjustment
The cutting depth may be precisely adjusted by turning the
handle at the rear of the revitalizer clockwise to raise the
knives and counterclockwise to lower them, hi spring and
fall set the knives to cut one-half inch deep. For summer
use or when the ground is dry, set the knives at one-eight
inch depth (Figure 4).
