Safe Use Information

The intended use of a Rocket cart is to
transport goods. Any use other than what the cart
is intended for can cause damage to the cart and
make it unsafe.
Carts with damage, defects or missing parts
must be taken out of service immediately
until a repair or replacement can be made.
Each cart has been provided with safety warning
labels.

Safe Use Guidelines

DO

educate your associates and managers when

missing parts and remove them from service

perform periodic maintenance and repairs to

your carts to ensure they are safe and ready for
use.

beware of pinch points and keep clear of them

DO

load the cart bottom to top and unload the cart

top to bottom
DO

ensure that all shelves are locked into place by

both latches before proceeding with further use
DO load bottom shelf fi rst and unload top shelf fi rst
DO use only indoors on level fl oor surfaces
DON’T allow shoppers to use the cart.
DON’T use the cart if either mechanism latching
the top shelf in the “UP” position is not in working
order
DON’T overload the cart beyond its capacity or
use for something other than what it is intended.
DON’T allow horseplay or riding on the cart
DON’T top load the cart
DON’T use the cart outside
DON’T pick up the cart with a fork lift or pallet jack

Safety Inspection Criteria

Inspecting your cart fl eet is necessary to keep it in
proper working order. To aid you in
performing routine Safety Inspections for your
carts we are providing the following Safety
Inspection Checklist. Carts should be
visually inspected daily to identify problems.

Train associates to know what to look for on
carts. Remove cart(s) from service
immediately if any safety issues are found.

Train all associates to inform management of
unsafe conditions in the store. If using in-store
safety prompts, make sure all posted informa-
tion is present and legible. Rocket Carts nest
for storage purposes only. Do not attempt to
transport Rocket Carts while nested.

Safety Inspection Checklist

If one or more of the following criteria fails upon
inspection of a cart, – REMOVE THAT CART
FROM SERVICE IMMEDIATELY UNTIL A
REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT CAN BE MADE
.
Carts that have been removed from the fl eet for
repair should be tied together with a lock and
chain and labeled “DO NOT USE – UNSAFE”
until they can be repaired or replaced.

Safety-Warning Labels are
present and fully legible.

There are no missing or broken
components on the cart and all
fasteners are tight and secure.

Wheels and casters are not bent,
loose or missing from their
mountings and the wheels roll
freely.

There are no bent, cracked or
protruding areas on the cart that
may cause injury.

All welds and/or joints are intact
and the cart is level to the ground.

All moving parts are in proper
working order

Latch mechanisms on shelves
are functioning properly, are not
damaged and mate appropriately
and securely to the cart.
