HYDRO-FLOAT

®

FLOTATION PADS

Hydro-Float® flotation pads are designed and engineered to aid in the prevention

and management of pressure sores. All Hydro-Float® products are manufactured

from a strong material which will take considerable abuse; however, caution

should be exercised when using sharp objects as the material can be cut or

punctured.

CLEANING

It is suggested Hydro-Float® flotation pads be protected from dirt and soil with a

sheet, linen cover or pillow case. The pad may be cleaned with ordinary soap and

water. Should the product get contaminated with pathogenic organisms, extreme

precautions must be used to disinfect the device. Commercially available liquid

chemical disinfectants should be used in accordance with the manufacturers

instructions. As an added precaution a second application of the disinfectant

should be used after the first application has dried. Do Not Sterilize Or Steam

Autoclave Permanently Sealed Hydro-Float® Products.

TEMPERATURE ADJUSTMENT

Hydro-Float® pads will seek room temperature. The normal coolness of the pad is

beneficial to the prevention and management of pressure sores; however, if the

pad is excessively cold and cannot be tolerated, the cooling effect may be

reduced by placing a 1/2" foam rubber insulation pad or towel over the product.

A sheet blanket may be placed over the product to air and wick away perspira-

tion.
For your convenience Hudson Industries manufacturers a Cloth and Wool Cover

for the standard and junior size Hydro-Float® Flotation Pad.
In severe cold weather, your flotation pad may arrive frozen. This condition does

not harm the pad in any way. Allow the pad to sit at room temperature and it will

thaw out in approximately 24 hours. The flotation pad can be thawed out quickly

by soaking in a tub of hot tap water, not exceeding 100°F/38°C.

IMPORTANT – PLEASE NOTE

No pins or other sharp pointed objects should be used with this product. Please

do not remove or alter the cloth identification label attached to this product. The

label indicates the serial number and order number. Removal or alteration of the

cloth identification label will void the warranty.

PAD WEIGHT IS IMPORTANT

Because the amount of fluid in the pad is directly related to proper flotation

therapy, it is important that the pad is repaired or replaced as soon as possible

should a fluid loss take place.
We suggest that the flotation pad be weighed at least every 6 months to discover

a fluid loss, if any. Should your flotation pad weight LESS than the amounts

indicated below, a fluid loss has taken place and it should be returned to Hudson

Medical to be refurbished.

BE SURE THE SCALE YOU USE IS REASONABLE ACCURATE

If you notice wetness on the flotation pad, it is almost always the result of perspi-

ration, and not due to a leak. To help absorb perspiration, place the Hydro-Float®

pad in a pillow case or cover with a thin towel. Change the covering as required.

The cover will absorb perspiration and help wick away moisture. If it is thought

that a leak exists, weight the flotation pad.
Hydro-Float® pads are filled and sealed at the factory. Please do not tamper with

this product by trying to open it or fill it. To do so will destroy its effectiveness.

There is no way that fluid can be added to taken out of the pad except at the

factory under special conditions. Tampering with the product will void the

warranty.

IMPORTANT – PLEASE NOTE

No pins or other sharp pointed objects should be used with this product.

Please do not remove or alter the cloth identification label attached to this

product. The label indicates the serial number and order number. Removal or

alteration of the cloth identification label will void the warranty.
