Use and Application of the Pressure EEZ®
Gravity Free™ Wheelchair Cushion
The Gravity Free™ Cushion is ideal for
long term care, moderate pressure sore
management and incontinence. The foam
core with inner gel bladder is protected by
an electronically sealed inner vinyl cover
for long term protection.
Remember, no cushion can eliminate
seating pressure or totally prevent pressure
sores, therefore, you should regularly
check for skin redness as a noted indicator of tissue breakdown. The
Gravity Free™ Cushion may be used in a sling seat wheelchair or on a
solid seat base.
The Gravity Free™ Cushion has a moisture resistant cover
designed to repel fluids as it is intended as a long-term incontinence
cushion. However it should not be submerged in water or used as a
bathtub seating product. Replacement covers are available from your
Hudson dealer.
Placement of the Gravity Free™ Wheelchair Cushion
The Gravity Free™ Wheelchair Cushion is available in the most
popular adult size (18" x 16" x 3"). The cushion should match the
width of the hips of the client not the width of the chair. The cushion
should be placed at the back of the wheelchair and the length should
extend to 1" to 2" from the back of the knees. The ischial tuberosities
(sitting bones) should be centered in the seat in the center of the
back seating area.
The footrest should be adjusted properly in order to enhance
seating comfort and help to lower peak seating pressures.
The Gravity Free™ Gel Foam Core
The Gravity Free™ Cushion has a 3" thick
resilient foam core embedded with a gel
bladder constructed with a 1" thick foam
insert. The air is vacuumed from the foam
and replaced with a water based polymer in a
10-gauge vinyl bladder casing. The Gravity
Free™ gel foam core provides weight and
pressure distribution in the ischial and coccyx
area for maximum skin protection.

Protective Liner
The Gravity Free™ gel foam core and
bladder is protected from incontinence by a
waterproof electronically sealed soft durable
10-gauge vinyl protective inner cover. Air
vents are incorporated to reduce pressure
and increase seating comfort.
The Gravity Free™ Cover
The Gravity Free™ gel foam core and
bladder is further protected by a 2-way nylon
stretch knit cover that reduces friction and
shearing. The bottom of the cover is made of
a non-skid vinyl.
