Before use

• Unpack the appliance and remove all the packing materials.

• Inspect the appliance and the accessories carefully to verify their soundness and undamaged condition. Only

perfectly sound and damage-free appliances may be connected to the electrical mains.

• It is important to ‚condition’ the rechargeable battery before using the appliance for the fi rst time.

Battery charging

The appliance is powered by a built-in rechargeable battery that cannot be removed. Instead, an electronic
charger is incorporated into the appliance. In order to obtain the maximum capacity from this rechargeable
battery it must be ‚conditioned’ before use.

1. Start by ensuring the appliance is switched off .

2. A new rechargeable battery will have been partially charged. Switch the appliance on and allow the battery to

run completely fl at. When the appliance stops working, switch it off .

3. Now plug the power cable into the appliance, then plug the other end into a mains socket. Switch the socket

on and charge the battery for 20 hours. The charging indicator will illuminate.

4. When the battery is fully charged, use the appliance as normal until the battery is completely fl at. Recharge it

for 20 hours. Repeat this process again; running the battery completely fl at before charging it for 20 hours. The
battery has now been conditioned.

5. After the battery has been conditioned you’ll only need to charge a fl at battery for 16-20 hours. It’s also no

longer necessary to wait until the battery has run down completely before charging. Never leave the appliance
on charge for more than 24 hours because this could damage the battery.

6. Rechargeable batteries lose their capacity to hold charge as they get older, even if they are charged carefully.

The battery in your appliance will need to be replaced when it no longer holds its charge for an acceptable
time. Battery replacement can be carried out at an authorised service centre.

The appliance cannot be used when it is being charged. Before use, unplug the power
cable from the mains socket and then unplug the other end from the appliance.

USING OF APPLIANCE

How to shave with an electric shaver

When fi rst using the shaver, please bear in mind that you will need around two to four weeks before your skin
becomes accustomed to electric shaving. The appliance must only be used on dry skin; do not moisten your face or
use shaving foam.

1. Ensure the shaver is charged. Clean your face thoroughly, then make sure it is completely dry. Remove the

protective cover from the shaver. Do not attach the power cable.

2. Push the on/off button (part no. 6) forward with your thumb. The vibrating cutters will begin to move under

the foils.

3. Hold the shaver at right-angles to your face. With your other hand, gently pull your skin so that it becomes

taut. Move the shaver quickly and smoothly against the direction of beard growth.

4. Any hairs that stick to your face may need to be lifted gently with your fi ngers.

5. You may need to shave twice to achieve a perfect result if you have a heavy beard or several days’ growth.

6. When you have fi nished shaving, switch off the shaver using the on/off button and replace the protective

cover on the shaver head. If necessary, recharge the shaver.

Using the long hair trimmer

Use the long hair trimmer (part no. 8) to cut any longer hair below your chin or on your neck. This trimmer can
also be used on your sideburns.

1. Push the release clip at the side of the long hair trimmer. This will allow the trimmer to open. Do not switch

the shaver on when opening or closing the long hair trimmer.

2. Switch the shaver on. Trim any long hair under your chin by moving the cutting surface of the trimmer against

the direction of hair growth. You can then achieve a closer shave by using the standard shaver head.

3. To trim other long hair, hold the trimmer at right-angles to the hair and use short downward movements.

Avoid pressing too hard. The trimmer can be used for hairs on the back of your neck, for a moustache and for
sideburns.

4. When you have fi nished using the long hair trimmer, switch off the shaver. Pull the release clip back and

return the trimmer to its original position in the body of the shaver.
