Use and operational modes of kitchen scales

The device can measure the weight of the objects in the bowl - up to maximum 3 kgs (6.6. pounds on the UK
unit) and it can display in either • (g) • (lb:oz) on the LCD.

The desired measuring unit can be set in measuring mode using the unit selecting buttons (UNIT).

Measuring operation mode

You can change into measuring operation mode by pressing the “ON/TARE” button once. If you see “UNST” on
the display, it means that the device has been moved during the change into measuring operation mode. The
balance must be stable and nothing should be put on it before zeroing.

After zeroing the device place the object to be measured onto the glass weighing surface. Ensure that the
item rests only on the weighing surface of the balance and does not touch the furniture, wall surface or
anything else, because this would invalidate the measurement result. The measurement results can be read
from the LCD, in the units previously set.

When using the device, remember that kitchen scales were designed for precise
weighing of small items, and must not be overloaded; try to estimate the weight
of the article to prevent overloading. For larger weights, try to divide the load into
smaller units before weighing. Kitchen scales can measure up to 3 kg. Overloading can
cause irrepairable damage which qualifies as heavy handling.

The item to be weighed must be placed in the middle of the scale. Avoid asymetric
loading.

If the error message “EEEE” appears on the LCD display, this means that an excessively
heavy object was placed onto the weighing plate and the scales are overloaded – in
such cases, the glass weighing surface must immediately be unloaded.

If the object to be measured cannot be placed directly onto the glass weighing surface, or for liquids, use
an appropriately sized, light bowl. The weight of the bowl or any other auxiliary container must be allowed
for. However this can be done automatically, because the appliance features a taring capability. To make a
tared measurement, wait for automatic zeroing, ie place the empty bowl on the glass weighing surface and
wait for its weight to be displayed. Briefly touch the ‘TARE/ON’ button: the previous display will clear and
automatically zero the value again. The weight of any solid or liquid placed in the bowl will be displayed
directly, with the weight of the bowl excluded. If this Tare function is in use, the display shows ‘Tare’.

Important! When weighing with taring, you must respect the maximum total load
bearing capacity of 3 kg when loading the weighing plate.

The device can also be used as a zero indicator because the LCD-screen can display negative values e.g. if you
want to weigh identical weights during a series of measurements or the difference from a reference gauge
(excess or deficit of weight). This can be done by using taring measurement. In such cases taring must be
performed after weighing a reference weight, which must then be removed and a set of readings compared
to this first measurement.

4. Replace the cover onto the battery holder and mount the appliance back on the console.

Never dispose of the replaced batteries in the household waste, because they will
endanger the environment! Please use a dedicated waste container provided for this
purpose or a collecting station for disposing of used batteries!

Never throw the batteries in the fire, because they can explode.

Installation of the device supporting console.

We recommmend employing a professional to install the appliance console, as the installation requires drilling.

1. Mark the holes for the metal support console on the surface where the balance is to be installed. Take the

safety instructions into account when positioning the console.

2. Use the markings to drill the 3 holes for inserting the dowels. When selecting the hole diameter please also

consider the wall material. The dowels must be fully sunk into the holes.

3. Use the screws provided to mount the metal console onto the wall.

4. Mount the device on the metal supporting console. For this purpose line up the clinging shoulders of the

metal console with the gaps at the back of the device, then slide the appliance down onto the console.

5. You can remove the device from the supporting console by lifting it off.

USING OF APPLIANCE

Before use

1. Unpack the appliance and remove all the packing materials.

2. Examine the device to make sure it’s complete and has not suffered any damage. You should only use the

device if all parts are present and undamaged.

3. When unpacking the product, the glass weighing plate will not be on the device. This needs to be set up

before the first use – the device is unable to weigh otherwise. To assemble, insert the threaded spindle on
the bottom of the plate into the threaded socket on the device, then turn it carefully clockwise until it is
fully tightened. When tightening the plate thread, take care to apply the minimum force required and avoid
overtighting but do not leave it loose. Overtightening can damage or break the thread. Cross-threading can
cause damage to both threaded spindle and socket; take particular care to avoid this happening.

4. In case of new device insert new batteries in it as described in the section “Battery replacement”.

5. Install the supporting console as described above, and mount the balance on it.
