HM-3930 Pin-Hole Dispersion Device (ASTM D4647):

This test is used for evaluating clay soils for erodibility by flowing water through a
small hole that is drilled through the compacted specimen. Refer to ASTM D4647 for
complete information.

Compaction using the Harvard Tamper Rod (H-4156.16 and the pin-hole test cylinder is
typical. The test chamber has a unique clamping ring for holding the stainless steel mold
to the base while compacting the sample. Included with the chamber are screens, base
stand, constant head reservoir, tubing, connections and a tool for drilling the pinhole.
The end cap has a pilot hole for drilling the 1.0mm (.040") hole through the sample.

When using the HM-3930, the top screen and inlet sand described in the ASTM spec,
are eliminated by having the pin-hole centering guide integral with the head plate.

All aluminum parts are anodized to corrosion resistance.
