Calculating saturated bulk specific gravity (BSGssd):
BSGssd = (Wd + Wabs)/[Vi – Vw]
Where:
Wabs = Water absorbed into the sample, (Vi – Vf), ml
Wf = Weight of the flask, g
Vw = Volume of water [WT – (Wd + Wf)], ml
WT = Total weight of the flask, water and sample, g
Calculating dry bulk specific gravity (BSGd)
BSGd = Wd/(Vi – Vw)
Calculating conventional absorption
Use the Correlation Equation shown below to calculate the
Conventional Absorption as follows:
