Determine the correct comb size
1
For good results it is best to use a comb with a diameter
that is similar to the thickness of the document to be bound.
In order to determine the correct comb size, place the
collated document with its covers into the binder sizer
(fig 3).
2
Slide the indicator across until it touches the document. It
will give you the measurement for the recommended comb
to use.
Binding the document
1
Place the comb on the comb opener with the fingers
upwards. (fig 4)
2
Push the punch handle back, until the comb opens
sufficiently to be able to insert the document (fig 5)
3
Feed the document, front cover facing downwards, onto the
open comb fingers (fig 6)
4
Pull the punch handle towards you, until the comb is closed
once again (fig 7). The Presentation is now complete.
Remove the document by simply lifting it upwards.
Problems getting started
• With over 50 years experience in making binding machines,
we know that when a machine is used for the first time,
punching errors can occur. In order to get best results, we
recommend that a ‘practice punch’ should be carried out.
Quickly you will see how easy the machine is to use and you
will not damage any crucial documents. If however you do
experience problems, it may be for the following reasons:
Symptom
Cause
Corrective action
The punch holes are not parallel with
the edge of the paper
The end punch hole is over the end of
the paper
Paper chips are blocking the throat
area
Paper was not inserted flush against
the back wall of the punch throat
The edge guide is not set to the same
size as the paper or the paper is not
flush against the edge guide
Insert paper into the throat area and
slide the paper from left to right, to
clear the blockage
Insert paper fully into the punch throat,
until the paper stops going in
Ensure that the edge guide is on the
correct paper setting and that the
paper is flush against it
