• Always avoid conditions that could cause a vacuum pad to slip or to
disengage prematurely, such as: contaminants, cuts or scratches in the
pad face or mounting surface; attaching the devise to porous materials; or
applying pressure against the pad edge.
• Never use the devise when the red line is visible. If the red line reappears
frequently, discontinue use and see MAINTENANCE: Service.
• Always position yourself and others to avoid injury in the event that the
vacuum cup disengages or the material dislodges unexpectedly.
• Never allow anything to interfere with free movement of the plunger while
the vacuum cup is attached.
• Never touch a vacuum release mechanism (see OPERATION: To Release)
when applying pressure to the pry bar. This may result in loss of vacuum
and unexpected release of the vacuum cup.
• Never leave the devise engaged and unattended.
• Never use harsh chemicals (such as solvents or gasoline) or unauthorized
rubber cleaners and conditioners to clean the devise.
• Always wear personal protective equipment that is appropriate for the
material being handled. Follow trade association guidelines.
• Always operate the devise under conditions approved for its design (see
SPECIFICATIONS).
• Never operate the devise if it is damaged, malfunctioning, or missing parts.
• Never operate the devise if the sealing edge of the vacuum pad is cut or
otherwise damaged.
• Never remove or obscure warning labels or operate the devise if any warning
appears to be missing or obscured.
• Always make certain the contact surfaces of the material and the vacuum
pad is clean prior to applying the vacuum cup (see MAINTENANCE).
• Never attempt to attach to cracked or broken glass with this devise. Always
position the vacuum pad correctly on the material prior to prying (see
OPERATION).
• Never pry on the material when the vacuum indicator shows inadequate
vacuum.
• Always keep other personnel far enough away from the operation to avoid
injury in the event of an unexpected load release or material breakage.
• Always protect all surfaces which could be damaged in the event of an
unexpected load release or material breakage.
• Always remember that modifications to the devise may compromise its
safety. Wood’s Powr-Grip cannot be responsible for the safety of any devise
that has been modified by the customer. For consultation, contact Wood’s
Powr-Grip.
