SAFE boating means:

• knowing the limitations of your boat

• following the "Rules of the Road"

• keeping a sharp lookout for people and objects

in the water

• not boating in water or weather conditions

that are beyond the boat's and the operator's

capability

• never boating when the operator is under the

influence of drugs or alcohol

• Being aware of your passenger's safety at all

times

• Reducing speed when there is limited visibility,

rough water, and nearby people in the water,

boats, or structures

Boating in beautiful weather and calm water

conditions can be a wonderful experience.

Pleasurable boating, however, requires considerably

greater skills than operating a land vehicle. To

obtain these skills, you must:

• Take a Coast guard, U.s. Power squadron,

or equivalent boating safety course. Call the

Boat/U.s. foundation at 1-800-336-2628 for

information on available courses.

• get hands-on training on how to operate your

boat properly.

In addition:

• Maintain your boat and its safety and other

systems as recommended in this manual.

• Have the boat inspected by a qualified mechanic

or dealer at least annually.

• Ensure that the Coast guard required safety

equipment is on board and functions properly.

(see page 1.2)

• Operating a high performance boat such as

a Baja requires different skills than operating

other boats. Make sure you have the necessary

skills, and if you are unsure, ask your dealer

for a demonstration, or seek further instruction

until you can properly operate your Baja

®

with

confidence.

• Replace any label which becomes illegible.

Replacement safety labels can be obtained by

property damage if the warning is ignored.

!

DANGER - Immediate hazards which WILL result

in severe personal injury or death if the warning
