IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
WARNING: When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always
be followed, including the following:
1. READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS.
2. Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
3. When in use, the appliance is under pressure and should never be left unattended.
4. To protect against electric shock, do not place cord, plugs, or appliance in water
or other liquid.
5. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced
physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge,
unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the
appliances by a person responsible for their safety.
6. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
7. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning.
8. Allow Espresso Maker to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before
cleaning the appliance.
9. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance
malfunctions, or has been damaged in any manner. Contact Consumer Service
for examination, repair or adjustment.
10. The use of any accessory not evaluated for use with this appliance may cause
injuries.
11. Do not use outdoors.
12. Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
13. Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
14. Prior to connecting or disconnecting plug from wall outlet, turn function knob
to OFF.
15. Never use the appliance without water.
16. Do not unscrew or remove water tank safety lid while the appliance is in operation
as scalding may occur. Wait until brewing cycle is completed and all water
and steam has been released.
CAUTION: Relieve pressure through steam wand before removing cup or filter
basket.
17. The carafe is designed for use with this appliance. It must never be used on
a range top.
18. Do not set a hot carafe on a wet or cold surface.
19. Do not use a cracked carafe or a carafe having a loose or weakened handle.
20. Do not clean carafe with abrasive cleansers, steel wool pads, or other abrasive
material.
21. Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
22. Be certain lids are securely in place before operating appliance.
23. Scalding may occur if the lids are removed during the brewing cycle.
