SERVICE & MAINTENANCE

BEFORE INSPECTING OR SERVICING ANY PART OF THIS MACHINE, SHUT OFF POWER SOURCE,

AND MAKE SURE ALL MOVING PARTS HAVE COME TO A COMPLETE STOP.

WARNING

1. Shut engine off and wait for all moving parts to come

to a complete stop.

2. Disconnect spark plug wire.
3. Remove the belt shield by removing the 8 bolts securing

the belt shield to the rotor weldment.

5.3 ADJUSTING THE DRIVE BELT - DL12720

Before going through the steps below, first try adjust-

ing the eyebolt to gain the adjustment needed for

proper belt tension

4. Loosen the 3/8" bolt attaching the engine tie to the

vacuum housing.

5. Move the engagement lever to the START position.
6. To increase tension on the belt, do the following:

a. Loosen the four carriage bolts attaching the engine

plate to the deck (Figure 2).

b. Locate the engine plate push off bolts located on

side of machine.

c. Loosen the jam nuts (Figure 3).
d. Tighten the push off bolts to move the engine away

from the rotor housing until the belt deflection is

7/16" when a 20 lb. load while the belt engagement

lever is in the VACUUM position. (See Figure 4).

e. Tighten the four carriage bolts securing the engine

plate to the deck.

f. Tighten the jam nuts to ensure the proper deflection

is maintained.

7. Replace the belt if the engine cannot be adjusted any

further and the idler arm comes in contact with the

engagement lever rollers when in the run position.

8. Move the engagement lever to the VACUUM

position.

9. Adjust the lower belt guide so there is 1/8" clearance

between the belt and the belt guide.

10. Reinstall the belt shield.
11. Reconnect spark plug wire.
