SUBJECT: ELECTRONIC FEED
KIT (PN 73071)
FITS MODELS: CH5540H (74554)
Before inspecting or servicing any part of this machine,
shut off power source, remove key, disconnect the
battery cables and make sure all moving parts have
come to a complete stop.
WARNING
The electronic feed control kit is used to monitor the speed
of the feed roller to facilitate more efficient chipping.
INSTALLATION
Inspect kit to verify all items were received. 1.
Remove the two washers and nuts from the proximity 2.
sensor of the harness.
Attach proximity sensor to the supplied proximity 3.
sensor bracket (73099-12) by feeding it through the top
hole in the bracket. Replace (on sensor) one nut and
washer removed in step 2. Insert the threaded portion
of proximity sensor through the bottom hole and add the
remaining washer and nut and secure.
Attach bracket to the end of existing bolt on bearing 4.
mount plate with 1/2” washer and nut. See Figure 2 for
mounting location.
Position the proximity sensor within .30" of the rotor 5.
shaft. When proper gap is achieved, tighten bracket in
place. Secure the harness to the top of the proximity
sensor bracket with provided nylon cable tie.
Remove roller cover by loosening and removing the five 6.
3/8” bolts and washers.
Attach LOFA Hydraulic Control (12674) to the holes 7.
drilled in the side of the roller support with iso-mounts
supplied on the control. Secure with four 8/32” locknuts.
See Figure 4 for mounting location detail.
Replace roller cover removed in step 6. 8.
Remove the control box plate from the top of the switch 9.
mount box. See Figure 1.
Attach the auto feed control relay to the switch mount 10.
weldment with two 8/32” x 3/4” screws and 8/32”
locknuts. Position the auto feed control relay with the
connectors facing downward. Refer to Figure 1.
Remove the knockout from control box plate. 11.
Place the auto feed on/off switch (12682) in the space 12.
vacated by the knockout.
