Chipper Blade Replacement Kit
The Chipper Blade Kit contains new parts for replacing
worn or damaged chipper blades. Follow the steps below
to replace the chipping blades.
Instructions
REPLACING THE CHIPPING BLADES
SUBJECT: CHIPPER BladE
REPlaCEmEnT KIT
FITS MODELS: all 4.5", 6", 8" & 9"
CHIPPERs
4.5” Chippers CH4400, CH45342, CH45390,
CH45540:
Remove the two 3/8 x 5-1/2" bolts securing the deflector

or discharge tube to the chipper housing and loosen
the 5/16" flange nuts on the weldment bolts.
Remove the deflector or discharge tube.

Rotate the chipper disk until a hole on the chipper

paddle is aligned with the hole on the chipper
housing.
Install a punch or screwdriver into the holes to lock the

disk in place. One of the bolts from the chipper deflector
can also be used to lock the disk.
Remove the two bolts and washers that hold the blade
5.
to the disk.
Place a new blade on the disk and attach using two

(2) m16 bolts and 5/8" GR8 washers.
Torque the bolts to 120 ft-lbs (163 nm).

Repeat for the remaining blade(s).

measure the clearance between all chipping blades

and anvil from inside the chipper housing. all blades
should be between 1/16" and 1/8" from the anvil. adjust
if necessary.
Replace the deflector or discharge tube and resume

chipping.

Before inspecting or servicing any part of this machine,
shut off power source, disconnect spark plug wire from
spark plug and make sure all moving parts have come
to a complete stop.
WARNING
WARNING
The chipping blades are sharp! Use care when working
on the machine to avoid injury.
nOTE: Rotate the discharge chute in the direction that the
cover opens.
Remove the two 3/8” retaining bolts holding the access

cover to the main frame assembly. Tilt access cover
open to allow access to the rotor.
Rotate the rotor so that the bolts holding a chipping

blade are accessible.
Install the disk lock to hold the disk in place, if

applicable.
Remove the two bolts and washers that hold the blade

to the disk. Remove old blades and discard.
Place a new blade on the disk and attach using two
5.
(2) m16 bolts and 5/8" GR8 washers.
Torque the bolts to 120 ft-lbs (163 nm).
