2.3 FUNCTION CHECK
Perform a function check of all systems, once the walk-
around inspection is complete, in an area free of overhead
and ground level obstructions.
A MACHINE MALFUNCTION COULD CAUSE DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY.
IF ANY MALFUNCTIONS OCCUR DURING THE FUNCTION TEST, DISCON-
TINUE OPERATION AND CONTACT A QUALIFIED SERVICE TECHNICIAN
TO CORRECT THE MALFUNCTION BEFORE OPERATING THE MACHINE.
From the Ground Control Station with No Load in
the Platform:
1. Check that all guards protecting the function switches or
locks are in place. Ensure that all function controls and
switches return to the "off" or neutral position when
released.
DO NOT OPERATE IF GUARDS OR LOCKS ARE MISSING OR THE
SWITCHES DO NOT RETURN TO THE "OFF" OR NEUTRAL POSITION
2. Raise the tower base boom to approximately 40
degrees, then lower the tower boom back to the below
horizontal position. While raising and lowering the tower
boom assembly, observe the position of the upright.
Ensure that the upright remains vertical relative to the
chassis. Refer to Figure 2-6. and Figure 2-7.
3. Check that all machine functions are disabled when the
Emergency Stop Button is pushed in.
4. Check for proper operation of the auxiliary power and
manual descent system (if equipped). Operate each
function control to ensure proper operation.
