15X FORWARD/REVERSE LATCHING SEARCH Search
in Forward or Reverse mode at 15 times normal playing speed
in SLP, and 5 times normal in SP. The Latching Search feature
provides continuous forward or reverse search with a single
touch of the control. A second touch stops the search
operation and returns the unit to the Play mode.
SKIP SEARCH This feature allows short-distance “hops”
in the Playback mode making it easier to find those elusive
previously recorded scenes. With just one touch of the
FRAME ADVANCE button on the remote you can fast
forward the tape for 30 seconds and then return to the
Play mode automatically.
• INDEX SEARCH
REMOTE LOCATOR™ Lost or misplaced remotes are
easy to find! Simply press the POWER button on the set. The
words “Locating Remote” will appear on the screen, and the
remote control beeps–leading you right to it.

SMARTCLOCK™ Once activated, this menu-
driven feature will automatically maintain the
correct time, regularly checking and updating the
time if necessary. This function will also reset the
clock after a power failure.The menu-driven time
zone feature allows selection of appropriate time for
those who live in a time zone other than that of their
CATV service provider.
SMARTSOUND™ When activated,
SmartSound™ keeps volume levels constant
between programs and commercials, and from one
channel to another. SmartSound™ constantly
monitors the audio signal, reducing a signal that’s too
loud and increasing a signal that’s too weak.
CLOSED CAPTION Activated through a special
on-screen menu, the closed caption feature allows
the hearing impaired to read dialogue and narratives
(on Closed Caption telecasts) without the use of an
optional, external decoding device. Program dialogue
and narrative material is printed at the bottom of the
screen. Excellent for development of language skills
and private viewing without disturbing others as well.
AUTOMATIC CHANNEL SETUP Activating this
feature allows the VCR tuner to scan through television
frequencies, automatically storing active broadcast
channels into memory.Then, only active channels
programmed into memory are tuned, using the channel
up/down buttons on either the remote or front panel of
the VCR. Automatic channel preset can be repeated
whenever desired, should new channels become
available. Channels can be manually added or deleted.
181-CHANNEL FS TUNING The digital quartz
tuner is capable of receiving up to 181 channels,
including UHF, VHF, and 113 cable channels, without
the inconvenience and expense of a cable company
decoder/converter (on non-scrambled cable systems).
Channel tuning is by random access with the remote
control transmitter or scan tuning up and down by
remote or at the set.

Indicates record/playback
functions, channel number, clock setting, date,
counter, programming, one-touch record and record

ON-SCREEN, REAL-TIME COUNTER Unlike the
0000 to 9999 tape counters found in standard
Combis, this unit incorporates a linear, real-time
counter which shows elapsed recording and/or
playback time in hours, minutes, and seconds.
TIMER/PROGRAMMER BACKUP MEMORY
Retains timer/programming information indefinitely in
the event of power failure.
TAPE POSITION INDICATOR No more guessing!
This menu-driven, on-screen display provides a visual
indication of tape remaining in the cassette in any mode.
SLEEP TIMER This set will automatically shut off
at a preset time of up to 120 minutes from the time
the feature is activated. Sleep timer settings are pro-
grammed in 15-minute increments.
A-B REPEAT PLAY Now you can play a single
segment of any videotape over and over again with
A-B Repeat. Using the on-screen menu, simply
program the start and stop positions of whatever
segment you want to repeat, regardless of length (as
long as it is no less than three minutes). Great for self-
help videos, training tapes, and instructional material.
REPEAT PLAY When the Combi recognizes no
recorded signal or reaches the end of a tape with the
Repeat Play control activated, it will automatically rewind
to the beginning and enter the Play mode again. Repeat
Play can be discontinued by touching the button a second
time or by changing operation mode.
QUICK START MECHANISM Quickly and
effortlessly switches the tape mechanism from Stop to
Play in only one second, instead of the approximately
5 1/4 seconds of older models.
REWIND/OFF Turn off power to the Combi during
rewind rather than waiting until rewind is completed.
When power is turned off during rewind, the unit
continues the rewind operation to the end of the tape,
then automatically shuts the unit off. And, if the timer
has been set for unattended recording, the unit will
place itself in the timer mode after rewinding the tape.
