REPARING YOUR

OMPUTER

Before making any adjustments to your system,
check the following on your PC.

Disconnect other CD-ReWriters and remove
their software. Use the software’s “Uninstall”
tool or utility. Or, select “Add/Remove Programs”
from the Control Panel in Windows.

Make sure your computer is in 32-bit mode.
1. Right click on “My Computer.”
2. Left click on “Properties.” The “System
Properties” screen will open.
3. Select “Performance.” “PC Cards (PCMCIA)”
will appear near the middle of the screen. Also,
“32-bit” should appear at the right side of the
screen, along with the message “Your system is
configured for optimal performance.”
If these messages do not appear, you may see a
message regarding “MS-DOS compatibility
mode.” Contact your PC manufacturer or
Windows technical support for assistance.

If your PC has more than 32 MB of RAM,
change the file system setting to “Network
Server.”
1. Right click on “My Computer.”
2. Left click on “Properties.”
3. Select “Performance.”
4. Under “Advanced Settings,” select “File
System.”
5. Select “Hard Disk.”
6. In “Settings,” set “Typical role of this comput-
er” to “Network Server.”
7. Select “Apply,” then “OK,” and “OK” again.
8. Restart your computer.
