When the separately sold display is connected to this
unit, the listed information will appear on it.
Information display
These are the basic steps necessary to play a
Video CD with your DVD player. More ad-
vanced Video CD operation is explained start-
ing on page 35.
1 VCD indicator
Shows when a Video CD is playing.
2 REAR indicator
Shows when the DVD player is operated
from rear seats.
3 Play time indicator
Shows the elapsed playing time of the cur-
rent chapter.
4 Track number indicator
Shows the track currently playing.
Note
If you set A-PLY: OFF, REAR will be displayed on
the head units display when you insert a disc
into disc loading slot, regardless of whether the
rear display is connected to this unit or not.
Basic operation of Video CD
1 Press NUMBER to select the desired
menu option.
When a Video CD featuring the PBC (playback
control) function starts playing, a menu is dis-
played.
! Playback starts from the selected menu
item.
! When the menu is two or more pages long,
press o or p to switch between dis-
plays.
! To play a disc without using a menu (with-
out PBC playback), when the disc is
stopped press the appropriate number but-
ton to select the desired track. To return to
PBC playback, stop playback and press
f.
# You can display the menu by pressing
RETURN during PBC playback. For details, refer
to the instructions provided with the disc.
# Operation with the joystick is not possible.
# If the remote control is set to DVH mode, o
and p do not operate. In this case, press m
or n.
2 To perform fast forward or reverse,
press and hold m or n.
# If you continue pressing m or n for five
seconds, the color of the icon m/n changes
from white to blue. When this happens, fast re-
verse/fast forward continues even if you release
m or n. To resume playback at a desired
point, press f.
# Fast forward/fast reverse may not be possible
at certain locations on some discs. If this hap-
pens, normal playback automatically resumes.
