Basic Saw Operations
Workpiece Support
Long workpieces have a tendency to tip
over unless clamped down and properly
supported from underneath.
Clamps
Workpiece Clamp (Standard Equipment) - This clamp
easily secures a workpiece in any of six (6) clamp holes
around the saw (Figure 21).
•
Insert clamp post into clamp hole

Loosen wing nut
2 and adjust arm 3 to proper height,
and securely tighten wing nut

Rotate screw knob
4 of the clamp clockwise to
tighten, counter-clockwise to loosen.
•
Move the head assembly to check clearance with clamp.
Quick Action Clamp (Optional Accessory) - This clamp
easily secures a workpiece in any of six (6) clamp holes
around the saw (Figure 19).
•
Insert clamp post into clamp hole

Adjust screw rod
2 to proper height, if necessary.
•
Press down on lever
3 to tighten clamp.
•
Move the head assembly to check clearance with clamp.
•
Pull up on lever to release clamp.
There may be extreme compound cuts
where clamp cannot be used. Support with
hand outside No Hands Zone.
Do not try to cut short pieces
that cannot be clamped and cause your hand to be in the No
Hands Zone.
Conventional Clamps and other hold down devices can be
used to hold the workpiece firmly against the table and the
fence.
Long Workpiece Support
Blocks - Long pieces need extra support. Boards can be
used to create auxiliary support extensions for long
workpieces (Figure 20).
Extension and Stock Stop - This attachment (accessory
BB1204) allows extra support for the longer workpieces.
