SATA Configuration
While entering Setup, the BIOS automatically detects the presence of SATA devices. The
SATA Port items show Not Present if no SATA device is installed to the corresponding SATA
port.
OnChip SATA Channel [Enabled]
Enables or disables onboard channel SATA port. Configuration options: [Disabled] [Enabled].
The following three items appear only when you set the above item to [Enabled].
OnChip SATA Type [AHCI]
Allows you to set the SATA configuration.
[IDE]
Set to [IDE] when you want to use the Serial ATA hard disk drives as
Parallel ATA physical storage devices.
[RAID]
Set to [RAID] when you want to create a RAID configuration from the SATA
hard disk drives.
[AHCI]
Set to [AHCI] when you want the SATA hard disk drives to use the AHCI
(Advanced Host Controller Interface). The AHCI allows the onboard storage
driver to enable advanced Serial ATA features that increases storage
performance on random workloads by allowing the drive to internally
optimize the order of commands.
SATA Port 5, 6, 7, ESATA [AHCI] or [RAID]
This item only appears when the previous item is set to [AHCI] or [RAID]. If Port 5, 6, 7,
ESATA are configured as [AHCI] or [RAID], the ports can only be used under OS with
driver installed. Set to [IDE] instead of [AHCI] or [RAID] to access devices on Port 5, 6,
7 and ESATA before entering OS. Configuration options: [AHCI] [IDE] or [RAID] [IDE].
Board SATA RAID ROM [Legacy ROM]
This item only appears only when you set OnChip SATA Type to [RAID] and allows you
set the Board SATA RAID ROM. Configuration options: [Disabled] [Legacy ROM] [UEFI
DRIVER].
OnChip SATA MAX Speed [SATA 6.0Gb/s]
Sets the maximum onboard SATA port speed. Configuration options: [SATA 3.0Gb/s] [SATA
6.0Gb/s]
S.M.A.R.T. Status Check [Enabled]
S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology) is a monitor system. When
read/write of your hard disk errors occur, this feature allows the hard disk to report warning
messages during the POST. Configuration options: [Enabled] [Disabled]
