Operator’s Manual for the Quietek

Preparing the Quietek for Use

• Insert the power supply (round) plug
into the receptacle OR power jack on
the back of the Quietek controller, and
plug the power supply into a standard
outlet.

• Connect the delivery hose to its fitting
on the controller, and attach the other
end to the barbed fitting on the cage lid.
The Quietek 2 has enough fittings to
operate with up to two cages.

Ensure that the lid is large enough so
that bent edges fit entirely around the
rim of the cage. If any part of the bent
metal edge of the lid is in contact with
the cage rim, the lid may not seat
properly.

Adjusting the Settings

Before you begin: Determine the
volume of your cage, in liters. A cage
volume calculator is available at
cagevol.nextadvance.com.

• Select the setting that you wish to
adjust (A or B) using the “Cage Size”
switch. The Quietek can store two
different cage volume/flow rate
combinations.

• Turn the key to the "Adjust" position.

• Set the cage volume using the “Cage
Vol.” knob. Measurements are shown
in liters.

• Set the desired fill rate using the “Fill
Rate” knob. Flow rate is controllable
within the range specified in the
AVMA guidelines. If you have a
Quietek XL model, you will not be able

to use very low flow rates at small cage
sizes (below 60L).

• Turn the key to the "Run Mode"
position. If the key is removed in run
mode, the machine will still run and the
settings will not be adjustable.

Note: For the Quietek 2, settings A or
B depending on the orientation of the
“Cage Size” switch) will apply to every
