For your convenience, it is also recommended that a “T” valve
(not supplied) be installed on the base of your flow-through
nozzle that would allow you to connect to the SOLVENTsaver
hose in a more permanent fashion and permit you to easily
divert the flow of solvent from the flow-through nozzle to the
filtration element when the parts cleaner is not in use.
SOLVENTsavers are packaged two in a box, with one
connector hose. This durable hose is to be used for both
SOLVENTsavers.
SOLVENTsavers are intended only for use with combustible
mineral spirits/petroleum hydrocarbon-based solvents. When
the SOLVENTsaver is connected and unit is operating, solvent
is evenly dispersed throughout the absorbent material removing
oil and grease build-up. If fine particulate filtration is needed,
the SOLVENTsaver II should be used. It has a 5 micron pleated
paper cartridge to remove particulate prior to the oil and
grease absorbing stage.
INSTALLATION AND OPERATING
INSTRUCTIONS
Graymills SOLVENTsavers are designed to provide the user
with on-going solvent cleaning and quick, easy change-outs.
An optional, durable “side mount” bracket (part #SS-BRAC) is
available and may be used to protect the SOLVENTsaver and
serve as a handy, space-saving shelf.
Installation of SOLVENTsaver only
Proper installation of the SOLVENTsaver and/or hanging
bracket is very important. Do not obstruct the fusible link,
self-closing safety mechanism of your parts cleaner tank lid.
1. Turn off parts washer.
2. Attach the connector hose to hose barb located on the end
of canvas filtration bag.
Only one connector hose is shipped in each carton of two (2)
filtration elements. Save and reuse the connector hose.
3. Attach the end of the connector hose with the universal
adapter fitting to the end of flexible solvent discharge nozzle
on the parts cleaner.
4. Place the filtration element on its side in a convenient area
within the parts cleaner on a shelf above the cleaning
solution.
5. Turn the parts cleaner pump switch to “on” to start cleansing
action. The bag will fill and begin filtering the solvent.

Side-mount Bracket
Proper installation of the SOLVENTsaver and/or hanging

self-closing safety mechanism of your parts cleaner tank lid.
1. Turn off the parts washer.
2. Attach the connector hose to the hose barb located on the
end of the canvas filtration bag.
3. Attach the end of the connector hose with the universal
adapter fitting to the end of flexible solvent discharge nozzle
on the parts cleaner.
4. Lower the filtration element bag into the mounting bracket.
5. Hang the bracket on the inside wall of the parts cleaner and
out of the way.
6. Turn the part cleaner pump switch to “on” to start cleansing
action. The bag will fill and begin filtering the solvent.
Operation
• Graymills recommends that when installing SOLVENTsavers
for the first time, start with a clean batch of solvent and
make sure that the unit does not contain excessive amounts
of sludge.
• Starting clean and applying on-going filtration during down
time or off hours to keep your solvent clean on a day to day
basis.
• Color and clarity do not necessarily indicate the cleanliness,
strength or effectiveness of the solvent. For example, diesel
engines and diesel related oils, lubes, and carbons leave
a very dark appearance of the solvent even after it has
been cleansed but this does not necessarily indicate a lack
of effectiveness. The cleanliness of your parts is the true
indication of solvent effectiveness.
• The length of time that the SOLVENTsaver will continue to
cleanse solvent is relative to parts cleaner usage and the
dirt, oil and grease load.
• In order to keep the solvent clean, it is recommended that
you filter solvent as often and as long as possible on a day-
to-day basis. When it appears that oil and grease are not
being removed from solvent, a change-out is needed.
• To maximize the life of the SOLVENTsaver, we recommend
rotating the filtration element a quarter-turn once a day.
DISPOSAL
Allow the filtration element to drain and dry thoroughly, then
place in a plastic bag for disposal. It is recommended that
the user check with federal, state and local authorities for any
special regulatory considerations before disposing.
