CAV Series

Fan Installation Notes:

1. The CAV utility blowers are shipped completely

assembled and ready for installation.

2. Blower unit should be secured to a solid base to

prevent vibration and noise.

3. The motor mount stand provides four (4)

holes to securely fasten the fan in place. Use

screws, bolts, or nails as needed, to secure the

blower.

4. Use appropriate connectors and ducting for the

applications to connect the fan inlet and outlet.

5. Wiring instructions are included with each utility

blower and are also permanently attached to the

motor. Observe and follow wiring instructions and

all codes that apply. Never attempt to install or

remove a blower unit with the power source

turned on.

6. Verify that power source meets motorplate

electrical requirements.

7. Always use finger guard on inlet/outlet when

the unit is running. Do not place hands, fingers,

or other objects into the inlet or outlet. Serious

injury may occur!

8. If the CAV Series utility is installed outside or

in an aggressive environment, it is recommended

that the motor be protected by means of a

weather cover.

9. Housing may be rotated to any 8 positions by

removing back plate screws from the housing.

Rotate housing to desired position, recaulk the

motorplate to fan housing, and reconnect

motorplate nuts.

Caution

Most CAV motors have auto thermal overload protection

(TOP). Should the blower overheat the motor will stop

operation and will start again automatically, once the

motor cools down. Always turn power off before

attempting to work on the unit! Installation should prevent

introduction of foreign materials into the air stream. If

foreign materials are present, damage to the blower may

result. Appropriate filters and guards should be in place

during blower operation.

Receiving and Inspection

This publication contains the installation, operation

and maintenance procedures for the CAV Fan.

Carefully read this publication prior to installation

and carefully inspect the fan and accessories for

any damage and shortage immediately upon

receipt of the fan.

Checklist:

1. Turn the wheel by hand to ensure it turns freely

and does not bind.

2. Inspect dampers (if included) for free operation of

all moving parts.

3. Remove shipping tape and plastic material.

4. Record on the Delivery Receipt any visible sign of

damage BEFORE CARRIER DEPARTS.

Storage

If the fan is stored for any length of time prior to

installation, store it in its original shipping crate and

protect it from dust, debris and weather.

WARNING

This unit has rotating parts. Safety precautions

should be exercised at all times during installation,

operation, and maintenance. ALWAYS disconnect

power prior to working on fan.

Personal Safety

Disconnect switches are recommended. Place

the disconnect switch near the fan so that the

power can be swiftly cut off in case of an

emergency, and also so that maintenance personnel

are provided complete control of the power.

1. Rotating

The impeller direction of rotation, looking into the hub

of the blower, should be clockwise(CW).

2. Mounting

All fans are suitable for mounting in any plane.

3. Operation

All fans are suitable for internal or external use. The fans

are designated to operate in a temperature range of -

25F to +200F.

4. Ductwork Connection

In order to excess noise and vibration along the

ductwork, we recommend the use of flex connector at

the fan inlet and outlet.

*When connecting duct to inlet and outlet, it is

recomended to install three (3) straight duct

diameters length of pipe to minimize system effect.

5. Operation

The CAV Series utility blower is designed for continuous

duty and may be started and stopped by various on/off

switch devices.

Electrical Supply

Check that the voltage and circuit details on

the fan are suitable for your supply.

Caution: Never work on a fan unless power is

turned off.

Wiring

All wiring should be carried out in compliance

with regulations for electrical installations and

comply with any local requirements.

Caution: Never work on a fan unless power is

turned off.

Starting

All fans are suitable for direct starting by

switch or direct line starter.
