The structure and surface that the Residential Guardrail System is intended to be used with must be
capable of supporting the product and personnel installing it. A complete assessment by a Competent or
Qualified Person must be made to determine if the walking and working surfaces have the strength and
structural integrity to support the system and the users.
Install the Guardian Residential Guardrail System on stable, dry, clean surfaces under adequate lighting.
Use only approved screws or duplex nails that come with the system.
Never erect Guardrail Systems near electrical wires. Keep systems a minimum of ten (10) feet from power
lines to prevent injury.
Inspect wood prior to installation.
Care should be taken when transporting system components to ensure that they are secure and do not
cause damage to other components or personnel.

All holes on the base bracket must be filled and must fully penetrate a truss.
Do not install into wood that not structurally sound and able to provide a secure fastening location.
Space brackets every six feet. Use 8ft 2x4s and allow 1ft. overhang on each side of the rail.
For use with a 6/12-16/12 pitch
Base brackets must be adjusted to the pitch of the roof and the silver support arm must come into
contact with the roof surface.
Secure silver support arm with the supplied pin.
Use only the Guardian provided guardrail.
Use only a 2x6 toe board.
Secure the base bracket to the toe board by using a 16 penny nail.
Do Not use residential guardrail or any of the components of the residential guardrail system as an anchor
point for fall protection.
