during operation.

– They represent the primary applications of the

power tool.

Increase possible for other applications, with other
insertion tools or if not maintained adequately. Take
note of idling and downtimes of machine!

2.4 Metal

processing

When processing metal, the following meas-

ures must be taken for safety reasons:

• Add a residual-current circuit-breaker (FI,

PRCD).

• Connect the machine to a suitable dust extrac-

tor.

• Regularly remove dust deposits in the motor

housing.

• Wear protective goggles.

3

Power supply and start-up

Observe the mains voltage: The voltage and fre-

quency of the power source must comply with
the specifi cations on the machine's identifi ca-
tion plate.

In North America, only Festool machines with

the voltage specifi cations 120 V/60 Hz may be
used.

On/Off switch
To switch on: Push the switch (1.1) forwards until it
engages.
To switch off: Press on the end of the switch (1.1).
This releases the switch locking in the ON position
and the switch moves to the OFF position.

Electronics

The machine features full-wave electronics with the
following properties:

Do not operate the tool if the electronics are

faulty as this can lead to the tool operating at ex-
cessive speeds. If the start-up is not smooth or
speed adjustment is not possible, this indicates
that the electronics are faulty.

Smooth start-up
The electronically controlled smooth start-up en-
sures that the machine starts up jolt-free.
Speed adjustment
You can regulate the speed steplessly between 1350
and 3800 rpm using the adjusting wheel (4.1). This
enables you to optimise the cutting speed to suit the
material (see section 6).

Constant speed
The preselected motor speed remains constant
through electronic control. This ensures a uniform
cutting speed even when under strain.
Temperature cut-out
To protect against overheating (burning out of mo-
tor), an electronic temperature monitoring system
has been installed. Prior to reaching a critical motor
temperature, the safety electronics switches off the
motor. After a cooling time of approx. 3-5 minutes,
the machine can be operated again at full load. The
machine requires less time to cool down if it is run-
ning, i.e. in neutral.

Machine settings

Always pull the plug out of the socket before any

type of work on the machine.

5.1 Extraction hood AH-RAS115

You can connect a Festool extractor to the extractor
connector (4.2). The extractor hose in the Festool
extractor is 27 mm in diameter.
Always adjust the brush ring (4.3) with the rotary
knob (4.4) in fl ying direction of the sanding dust.

Assembly

– Open the clamping lever (3.2).

– Place the extraction hood on the collar (3.3) of the

machine.

– Close the clamping lever (3.2)

If the clamping lever (3.2, 5.2) can no longer
be completely closed, you can readjust it after
opening the screw (5.1).

Shifting the rotary knob

The rotary knob (4.4) can be secured on both sides of
the extraction hood. For shifting, it must be replaced
with the clamping lever (3.2)

– Open the screw (5.1).

– Remove the clamping lever (5.2).

– Unscrew the square-head bolt (5.3).

– Release the rotary knob (6.2) with an Allen key (6

a/f).

– Install the clamping lever and the rotary knob in

reverse sequence on the other side respectively.

– Use the lock nut (6.1) to adjust the ease of move-

ment of the rotary knob.

Replacing brush insert

Two different brush inserts (6.5) are available

RAS AHP (484727) Plastic bristles

RAS AHM (484728) Metal bristles (for use with

spark-producing materials)
