Advanced > NAT > Port Triggering
Port triggering is similar to Port Forwarding however where port forwarding is tied to a specific IP address,
Port triggering is dynamic and is tied to a particular application event request. The ‘Custom Application’
settings, or the pre-sets that are provided by the application names in the drop-down menu, allows specific
ports to be opened by the named applications. The ‘trigger’ is the outgoing request, which then ‘opens’ the
ports specified in the Open Port Start-End range to enable the application to reply.
For this to work, you need to know the Outgoing Port(s) which the application uses to Send requests, and
then specify the Open Port range for the reply. Some typical port ranges are as follows; for other applications,
check the vendor websites.
