1. Power mode switches
The Power mode switches correspond to each
of the Power Zones. These switches are used
to control how the power zones respond to the
front panel power button. They can be set in the
following ways:
• Always On [ON] - With the switch in the ON
position, the zone will receive power as soon as
the Power Director 3.5 is plugged into a power
source. Power will continue to pass through
this zone even if the Director is switched off
(standby mode).
• Switched [SW] - In the SW position, the
zone will receive power as soon as the Power
Director is switched on (operate mode). No
power will pass to this zone when the Director
is in standby mode.
• Delayed [DL] - In the DL position, the zone will
activate three seconds after the Power Director
is in operate mode. No power will pass to this
zone when the Director is in standby mode.
2. Circuit Breaker
In the event that the connected gear draws
more than 15 amps of current the circuit breaker
will trip and no power will pass through any of
the outlets. To reset the circuit breaker press the
toggle switch.
3. IEC Power Input
15 Amp male IEC inlet.
4. DC Trigger (input)
The Director is equipped with a DC input trig-
ger. The DC trigger will control the power status
of the Director. See the DC Trigger section for
more information.
5. Coaxial Pass Through
The coaxial pass through will provide surge
protection from abnormal voltage situations
on CATV or satellite lines. The coaxial pass
through will pass the full bandwidth of HDTV
signals.
6. Power Zone: Analog
The Analog Power Zone can be used to connect
any type of equipment. For best results prod-
ucts such as preamplifiers, phono equipment,
tuner or tape equipment should be grouped on
the same Power Zone.
7. Power Zone: Digital/Video
The Digital/Video Power Zone can be used to
connect any type of equipment. For best results
the Digital/Video Power Zone should be used
to connect any digital equipment and display
devices. Products such as DVD/CD players,
PVRs, Satellite or CATV tuners, Television sets
or front/rear projectors should be grouped on
the same Power Zone.
8. Power Zone: Amplifier
The Amplifier Power Zone can be used to con-
nect any type of equipment. For best results the
Amplifier Power Zone should be used to con-
nect any amplifiers or subwoofers.
Note:
The names regarding the Power Zones are
simply suggestions. Each zone is identical
(except the number of outlets). To provide the
most effective isolation follow the guidelines
listed above.
For optimum performance, it is recommend that
analog equipment be grouped separately from
digital equipment. Items with very high power
consumption should use separate zones.
