Model DPX100
DOCSIS WebSTAR
Cable Modem
Description
The WebSTAR
DPX100 Cable Modem provides DOCSIS
broadband network operators with a cost-effective solution
for delivering standards-based, high-speed data services to
their subscribers.
Key features include the following:
DOCSIS 1.1 and 1.0 certification by CableLabs to
meet interoperability and reliability standards for
DOCSIS-compliant networks
Both a 10/100BaseT Ethernet port and a USB port to
facilitate quick connectivity to Customer Premise
Equipment (CPE) for high-speed data service
Factory installed Digital Certificates that facilitate the
online upgrade of DOCSIS 1.0-certified WebSTAR
modems to DOCSIS 1.1 capability–a quick and simple
network download that reduces upgrade costs and
complexity
WebWizard
To facilitate setup and troubleshooting, the DPX100
includes WebWizard, a browser-based online status
indicator. WebWizard verifies setup and troubleshooting
results and eliminates the need to load additional setup
software on the CPE. In addition, four LEDs provide visual
feedback of real-time data transmission and operating
status.
Cable Modem Access Protection
The DPX100 reduces the risk of unauthorized "hacking" into the CPE by blocking transmissions from the Web to
the CPE. This cable modem access protection can be activated two ways. The end-user can manually activate a
software-based "standby switch," which disconnects the Ethernet and USB data communications. Or the end-user
can select the automatic mode and let the DPX100 block transmissions from the Web whenever the CPE is idle
for a user-specified amount of time. Then when the DPX100 detects outbound CPE activity, it quickly restores
normal operation without the loss of any packets.
