Safety distances to the sides and
rear of the cooktop
If you are installing a cooktop, it is
allowed to have cabinets or walls of any
height on one side and at the rear, but
on the other side there must be no
appliance or furniture standing higher
than the cooktop (see illustrations).
Following minimum safety clearances
must be kept:
– 50 mm to the right or left of the
countertop cut-out to the nearest
piece of furniture (e.g., a tall
cupboard).
– 50 mm from the countertop cut-out to
the rear wall.
