The switch on the upper right - NORMAL-TEL ONLY allows you to set this unit to function as a
facsimile machine (NORMAL) or as a simple telephone (TEL ONLY).
Directly below this switch is the modular jack into which you plug in the telephone line cord which
goes into the phone company's RJ11C modular jack on the wall.
The D-N-L CONTRAST switch is used in the transmit or copy mode. Usually, this switch is
set at N - Normal. If the document to be transmitted (or copied) is too light, set the switch to L -
Light. If the document to be transmitted or copied is too dark, set the switch to D - Dark.
NOTE: The contrast switch affects only the documents which you are sending or copying. It
does not affect documents which you receive from another facsimile unit.
To the left of the D-N-L CONTRAST switch is the OFF-ON AUTO ANS switch. When you set
the switch to ON, the unit will receive transmissions automatically. If the switch is set to OFF, you
will have to answer the phone attached to the facsimile unit and initiate the reception manually by
pressing the START button.
