8.9.3 Example of configuring the FTP client

Networking requirements

As shown in Figure 8-3, the router that serves as the FTP client can access the FTP server and

download system software and configuration software from the FTP server.

Configuration roadmap

Users on the FTP client log on to the FTP server and download system files from the server to
the storage devices on the client side.

Data preparation

To complete the configuration, you need the following data:

IP address of the FTP server

The destination file name and its position in the router

Configuration procedure

Step 1 Log on to the FTP server from the router.
