Practical advice for hair styling
Straight hair: put a section of hair around 4cm-5cm wide between the styling plates. Close the appliance, move
it slowly from the root of the hair to the ends, then open it. Allow between 5 and 8 seconds for straightening
thinner hair; thicker hair will take 10-15 seconds.
Softly twisting locks of hair: put a section of hair around 4cm-5cm wide between the styling plates. Follow the
advice above but also turn the appliance while moving it through your hair.
Outward 'flicks': put a section of hair between the styling plates, keeping the plates as near the roots as
possible. Grip the hair and move the appliance from the root of the hair to the ends, turning the styling plates
outwards as you reach the ends.
Inward 'bobs': put a section of hair between the styling plates, keeping the plates as near the roots as possible.
Grip the hair and move the appliance from the root of the hair to the ends, turning the styling plates inwards
as you reach the ends.
Do not brush or comb your hair immediately after styling. Wait until your hair cools down,
otherwise the styling effect will be reduced or lost.
MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
Warning! Before cleaning, always switch off the appliance and remove the power
cable from the mains socket. Wait for the appliance to cool completely before you start
cleaning. Never immerse it in water or place it under running water.
•
To clean the handle, wipe it with a soft cloth that's been moistened with a few drops of mild detergent.
Next, remove the detergent by wiping with a soft lint-free cloth moistened with lukewarm water. Finally,
wipe the cleaned surfaces with a dry lint-free cloth. Take care to ensure no moisture enters the appliance.
Make sure the hair straighteners are completely dry before using them again.
•
Never use solvents (acetone, benzene, petrol etc.) to clean the appliance because these materials could
dissolve the plastic cover and damage the internal components. Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaning agents.
•
Never scrub or scour the styling plates; this can damage the glossy surface. Any dirt should be removed
with a soft lint-free cloth.
•
The styling plates may appear slightly discoloured after long-term use. This is not a fault and doesn't affect
the operation of the appliance. You can use purified alcohol (isopropyl alcohol) to remove this discolouration;
do not use any other cleaning liquid. Moisten a clean lint-free cloth with the alcohol and gently wipe the
surface of the styling plates. Take care not to touch other parts or to let any moisture inside the appliance.
Next, wipe with a damp lint-free cloth and finally wipe the cleaned surfaces with a dry lint-free cloth.
Make sure the hair straighteners are completely dry before using them again.
APPLIANCE POWER SUPPLY
The appliance must only be connected to mains electricity of 230V and 50Hz.
Always ensure the mains voltage where you’re using the appliance corresponds
to the value shown on the nameplate of the appliance.
USING THE APPLIANCE
Before use
•
Unpack the appliance and remove all the packing materials.
•
Carefully check the appliance to ensure it is complete and undamaged. You should only use the appliance if it
is complete and has not suffered any damage.
Using the hair styling appliance
1. Before applying power, turn the hair styling selector (control no. 6) to the open position
marked by the "
" symbol.
2. Plug the appliance into a mains socket, then apply power by gently pressing the on/off button (control no. 3).
The heating indicator light (no. 4) will glow red. Take care to hold the handle only; do not touch the ceramic
styling plates. Note: The heating indicator light will cycle on and off during use, as the appliance maintains its
temperature setting.
3. A few minutes after applying power, the styling plate temperature will be sufficient to start hair styling
(about 160˚C).
Before turning on the appliance, adjust the temperature setting button (control no. 2) as appropriate
for your hair type. A higher temperature is recommended for styling thicker hair.
• 120-160 °C: for styling fine, or delicate, broken hair
• 160-180 °C: for styling normal hair
• 180-200 °C: for styling thick, strong hair
Once the appliance reaches the temperature setting, the heating cycles on and off to maintain the desired
temperature. This is shown by the heating indicator light.
Before storing the appliance after use, close the plates and secure them by turning the hair styling selector
(control no 6) to the "
" symbol.
Warning! If you need to put the appliance down for a moment when using it, always
place it on a heat-resistant surface and make sure there is no flammable material
nearby. Pay attention to where you place the appliance and never leave it unattended
during use.
