HOW TO LEVEL THE MOWER HOUSING

If the mower housing is level, the blade will cut easier and the lawn

will look better.

WARNING: Before you make an inspection,

adjustment, or repair to the unit, disconnect the wire

to the spark plug. Remove the spark plug wire to

prevent the engine from starting by accident.

1. Make sure the unit is on a hard level surface.

2. Check the air pressure in the tires. If the air pressure is incor-

rect, the mower housing will not cut level. The correct air pres-

sure is on the sidewall of the tire.

3. Move the lever for the blade rotation control to the DISEN-

GAGED position.

4. Lower the mower housing to the lowest setting.

5. Remove the pin and washer that secure the left rear adjuster

plate. Remove the left rear adjuster plate from mower hous-

ing. (Figure 24)

6. Remove the pin and washer that secure the right rear lifter

link. Remove the right rear lifter link from mower housing.

(Figure 23)
Note: The mower housing must now be setting entirely

on the ground.

7. Remove the pin and washer that secure the right front adjust-

er rod. Remove the right front adjuster rod from the suspen-

sion bracket. (Figure 23)

8. Remove the pin and washer that secure the left front adjuster

rod. Remove the left front adjuster rod from the suspension

bracket. (Figure 24)
Note: Make sure both sides of the mower housing are

setting on a flat surface.

9. To install the left front adjuster rod, turn the adjuster nut until

it fits easily into the suspension bracket. Secure the adjuster

nut to the suspension bracket using the washer and pin re-

moved in Step 8.

10. Replace the right front adjuster rod following the procedure

described in Step 9.

11. Install the right rear lifter link to the mower housing. Secure

the right rear lifter link with the washer and pin removed in

Step 6.

12. Install the left rear adjuster plate, using the middle hole, to

the mower housing (see Figure 24). Secure the left rear ad-

juster plate with the washer and pin removed in Step 5.

13. Attach the spark plug wire to the spark plug.

14. The mower housing should now be level. If the mower housing

is still not level, move the left rear adjuster plate to a forward

hole to lower the left side of the mower housing or move it to a

rearward hole to raise the left side of the mower housing.
