General description

The ReNew products allow the user to utilize the latest control electronics and
software with otherwise obsolete material testing machines. In many cases, the
mechanical systems within a testing machine consisting of ballscrews, belts,
gears, motors, etc. have a much longer service life than the electronics that
control them. The installation of a ReNew system allows old systems to be
productive again, with performance in many cases on par with a new system.

System performance

and customer

responsibility

As the performance of the completed ReNew is at least partially dependent on
the mechanical elements of the existing system, it is the customer's responsibility
to ensure that the mechanical elements of system to be upgraded are in good
working order. Ideally, the existing electronics will allow the user to run the
crosshead up and down at a variety of speeds to check for the absence of unusual
noise and vibration. The existing belts, pulleys, and ballscrews should not exhibit
undue wear. The customer is responsible for having any necessary repairs to the
mechanical elements in effect before the MTS representative arrives on-site for
the installation.

All ReNew systems utilize a PC as an integral part of the system. It runs the MTS
TestWorks software that provides full machine control, data acquisition and
management, and advanced data analysis and presentation. MTS has minimized
the amount of custom electronics in your system, making it flexible and reliable
as possible. This is done by connecting the controller and the computer via a
USB2 port with and USB cable.
