Operation on public supply systems (compliance with EN 61000−3−2)
The European standard EN 61000−3−2 stipulates limit values for harmonic currents in the supply
system. Non−linear consumers (e.g. frequency inverters) cause harmonic currents which "interfere"
the supplying mains and may disturb other consumers. This standard helps to ensure the high quality
of public mains systems and reduce the mains load.
Tip!
The standard only applies to public mains systems. Mains systems with an own transformer station
as common in industry are not public. Thus, the standard does not apply to them.
If a device or machine consists of several components, the limit values defined in the standard apply
to the entire unit.
If you observe all measures given, the controllers comply with the limit values according to
EN 61000−3−2. The machine/system manufacturer is responsible for the compliance with the
requirements for the machine/system:
