Paper Setting
This section describes how to make a paper setting for each tray.
5.2.1
Paper Setting Outlines
The paper setting offers two types of usage depending on what the setting is intended for.
One is to make the setting for a paper tray which needs paper conditions specified.
The other is to register paper conditions for the paper to be used.
This section describes how to make the setting for a paper tray.
NOTICE
Even when a job is in progress, you can change the paper setting of any tray that is not used in that job. How-
ever, you cannot change the paper setting of the keys grayed out on the screen.

The other setting, to register paper conditions for the paper to be used, can be made from the Utility Menu
Screen. See page 10-24 for details.

Paper conditions specified for a paper tray can also be registered. That procedure is provided in this
section.
The paper setting can be made for the following trays:

Main body trays (trays 1 to 3)

Trays of Paper Feeder Unit PF-704 (trays 4 to 9)
-
Trays of Paper Feeder Unit (with scanner) PF-705 (trays 4 to 6)
-
Upper tray/lower tray of the post inserter of Folding Unit FD-503 (PI 1, PI 2)
-
Upper tray/lower tray of Post Inserter PI-502 mounted on Finisher FS-612 (PI 1, PI 2)
-
Cover tray of Perfect Binder PB-503 (PB)
The paper setting for a paper tray consists of the following conditions that can be specified as desired.

You can set the machine to accept thin
coated paper in each tray in order to
use the coated paper thinner than nor-
mal. See page 10-47 for details.
Plain, Fine, Color Specific, Coated-GL,
Coated-ML, Coated-GO, Coated-MO
Profile Name
No entry can be made in setting the pa-
per conditions for the tray to be used.
Enter the paper file name when you
register the paper conditions specified
for a tray.
Up to 50 alphanumeric characters in-
cluding symbols can be entered for the
name.
