MVP 104GX Reference Information

Configuring the MVP 104GX for RS-422

The MVP 104GX comes configured from the factory for RS-232 communications. If
an RS-422 configuration is required, follow the procedures below. The procedures
involve removing the top cover, relocating the serial port ribbon cable, setting the
jumper, and replacing the top cover.

Removing the top cover

The top cover of the MVP 104GX must first be removed to gain access to the ribbon
cable and jumper.

Disconnect the power cord from the MVP 104GX.

If the MVP 104GX is rack mounted, remove the MVP from the rack.

Remove the fourteen screws which secure the top cover of the
MVP 104GX, as shown in figure A-1.

Lift the cover straight up and set it aside.

Relocating the ribbon cable and setting the jumper

If the MVP 104GX is currently configured for RS-232 communication, the ribbon
cable must be relocated and the jumper must be reset for RS-422 communication.
See figure A-2.

Disconnect the ribbon cable from the RS-232 receptacle, noting that the
red stripe of the cable is positioned relative to pin #1 of the receptacle.

Both RS-232 and RS-422 receptacles are mounted with pin #1 located on the
same side, relative to the circuit board.

Reconnect the ribbon cable to the RS-422 receptacle, as shown in
figure A-2. The red stripe of the ribbon cable must be positioned relative
to pin #1 of the RS-422 receptacle.
