Intermax RSSI - Quick Start Guide – v1.0 – 11 April 2011

Introduction
The Intermax modem is a sophisticated quad band cellular device.
Cellular coverage can vary greatly from one side of a building to another, more so in
areas with limited coverage. Finding the most suitable position with the best
coverage could make the difference between working reliably or only intermittently.
The purpose of this software tool is to help the engineer determine a suitable
installation site that provides the best cellular signal.
The tool is simple to use and displays the ‘received signal strength indicator’ (RSSI),
a signal strength reading (in dBm) as taken from the Intermax modem.
Additionally, the tool can also be used to experiment with different aerial types, aerial
orientations or even for comparing different Telco's.
Requirements
For portability it is recommended that the tool is installed on a laptop running
Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7.

Installing the Intermax RSSI Tool
There is no installation for this tool. It is a single EXE file that simply needs to be
copied to the desired location on the laptop. The desktop would be a convenient
place.
The Intermax RSSI Tool does require Microsoft's .NET framework v2.0. This will
already be preinstalled on most modern computers but can be freely downloaded
from Microsoft if required.
