Typical Components in the Load Train
Description
Name
Item
Moves up or down to impart force on the specimen.
Crosshead

Measures the force imparted on the specimen. The force
sensor can also be mounted to the base.
Force Sensor (Load Cell)

Provides a means for quickly mounting the grip to the
load cell or base.
Adapter

Secures the grip to the adapter.
Pin
4
Must be tightened to eliminate play from the load train.
Use a spanner wrench and turn clockwise to tighten.
Locking Ring
5
Secures the specimen.
Grip
6
Material to be tested.
Specimen
7
Stationary mount for the load train.
Base
